Coopavel Drives Innovation and Expansion in Fish Farming at Show Rural 2026

Cooperative showcases new technologies, expands juvenile production, and prepares for export certification in Paraná
 The 38th edition of Show Rural Coopavel, held in Cascavel, Paraná, is spotlighting the rapid evolution of fish farming with a dedicated space focused on innovation, integration, and expansion within the aquaculture chain.
Spanning approximately 2,000 square meters, the fish farming area—located just beyond the event’s viewpoint—welcomes integrated producers of Coopavel and visitors interested in entering the sector. The space presents the cooperative’s integration model centered around its Fish Processing Plant, Fripeixe, reinforcing fish protein as a profitable and sustainable alternative within agribusiness.
Technology and Practical Demonstrations
The venue functions as a live showcase of modern aquaculture technology. Visitors can explore advanced equipment such as aerators, feed silos, automatic feeders, and power generators, all designed to enhance productivity, safety, and operational stability in fish farming.
A scaled excavated tank provides practical demonstrations, offering hands-on learning opportunities and drawing strong interest from producers seeking technical knowledge and visual documentation of innovations presented at the fair.
 According to Paulo César Dias Alves, veterinarian and manager of Fripeixe, partner companies are also exhibiting solutions that strengthen fish health and performance.
“Vaccines and probiotics directly contribute to animal health, zootechnical performance, and the sustainability of the activity,” Alves emphasizes.
Strategic Move: In-House Juvenile Production
In a significant advancement for its production chain, Coopavel has begun producing its own juvenile fish. Currently, two integrated farms are dedicated exclusively to this stage.
“We purchase fingerlings weighing approximately 0.5 grams, and they remain in these units until they reach between 20 and 40 grams. After that, they are transferred to other integrated farms for fattening and slaughter,” explains Paulo César Dias Alves.
This strategy reduces production costs while improving quality control and uniformity.
“We deliver more uniform and healthier fish, minimizing problems until slaughter,” Alves adds.
To support this expansion, the Fripeixe field team now includes one integration supervisor and three technicians, with one professional exclusively assigned to monitor juvenile production—from the arrival of fingerlings to harvesting and transportation.

Automation, Certification, and Export Goals
With just over one year of operation, the Coopavel Fish Processing Plant is already undergoing new upgrades. The installation of additional automated equipment aims to increase slaughter capacity and streamline operations.
The cooperative’s next milestone is obtaining certification from the SIF (Federal Inspection Service).
 Currently, the plant operates under SISBI (Brazilian System of Inspection of Animal Products), which authorizes commercialization throughout Brazil. Achieving SIF certification will enable international exports, opening new markets and growth opportunities.

“We will be able to seek exports and open new frontiers for our products,” notes Paulo César Dias Alves.
Expanding Opportunities for Producers
With expansion plans underway, Coopavel is actively seeking additional producers interested in joining its integration system and developing new fish farming areas.
“We want our members to understand that fish protein is also profitable,” says Rodrigo Alcadio Bernardini, supervisor of Coopavel’s Development Area.
