Over USD 10 mln in aid granted to artisanal fishers

The Ministry of Economy, Development and Tourism has committed to invest up to CLP 5.5 billion (USD 10.3 million) and set up a speedy route of implementation in an effort to accelerate the recovery of the artisanal fishing sector, still grappling with the after-affects of the earthquake of 27 February.
The head of that portfolio, Juan Andres Fontaine, said that the money will be obtained from non-allocated resources of the Fisheries Administration Fund (FAP) and Artisanal Fishing Development Fund (FFPA).
