The Costa Rican Fisheries Federation (FECOP) is an association that promotes responsible fisheries in Costa Rica and comprises organizations committed to protecting, developing and promoting sustainable marine fisheries in the country.
FECOP was established in 2008, driven by representatives of the tourist fishing sector interested in protecting our oceans in the face of pressure from increased indiscriminate fishing.
Our organization represents the interests of more than 4,000 people who are directly involved in tourist and sport fishing, and approximately 63,000 people who indirectly benefit from the sector; and we also support the country’s 15,000 artisanal fishers in their struggle to establish marine areas for responsible fisheries.
