Remote monitoring technology for the farmed seafood industry
Sea Warden enables aquaculture producers to demonstrate their commitment to responsible production practices by simplifying transparency monitoring.
Remotely monitor aquaculture activity, anywhere in the world
Sea Warden combines user data, satellite observations and predictive modeling to provide continuous monitoring anywhere in the world. This capability augments existing certification programs that rely on annual in-person audits, while unlocking the enormous potential of monitoring marine aquaculture operations that are too small, or too remote for existing options to be viable. Unlike any other solution, we are able to provide collected data back to the users, providing them with valuable insights to optimize yields while improving sustainability.
Using a mobile app we are able to cover all remaining aspects of an audit, such as verification of important documents like business permits, verification of fish composition, and collection of environmental data. This approach is either on par or better than in-person auditing as key metrics can be verified more often instead of once a year.
A Global Map of Aquaculture
Our goal is to create the world’s most comprehensive aquaculture monitoring effort by using satellite observations to locate all global production activity. We believe this regularly updated map will be l towards better understanding this industry by scientists, planners, and policy makers. We have evaluated this approach in the Mediterranean Sea, and are seeking partnerships with imagery providers to expand our efforts.
