The Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies (IMEDEA), a research center jointly governed by the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC) and the University of the Balearic Islands (UIB).

Our institute develops scientific and technical interdisciplinary research in the area of Natural Resources. Our framework is the ocean and its litoral, which encompasses islands.

Nowadays our activity is centered on the effects that Global Change has on such ecosystems and how to achieve an integrated and sustainable management of coastal areas.
