The precursor was an enterprise with 100% of capital from Finance and Administration Board of the Communist’s Party- SocTrang branch, came into operation on February 03rd, 1996, specializing in processing frozen shrimps for exporting. On January 01st, 2003, the Business was privatized and had its name changed into Sao Ta Foods Joint Stock Company, tradename as “FIMEX VN”. From December 07th, 2006, FIMEX VN’s shares are present on HCMC securities trading floor with name-code as “FMC” and the capital owned by the Communist Party’s Office of SocTrang province is only 17.47%.
With the location of processing factories at SocTrang town, close to main transportation route, residential areas, and away from the major raw shrimp areas of the province about 20-30km, FMC has advantages in transporting raw material and final products, attracts labors as well as widens careers in future. Through over 12 years of operation, FMC has established firm bases in two big markets, i.e Japan and United States; holding 90% market shares of FMC. Product processing level of FIMEX VN is at the top in Vietnam and its products have been being consumed in big restaurant and distribution chains.
