Vilsund Muslinge Industri (Vilsund mussel industry) was founded i 1986, and has since the beginning been dedicating its effort in producing high quality products from Danish waters.
As the first mussel fishery the Vilsund Muslinge Industri and the 27 vessels delivering mussels to the company will be assessed by the MSC – Marine Stewardship Council. After a successful assessment the mussels fished by the 27 vessels fishing in Limfjord will be the first MSC labeled mussels on the seafood market. The sea fjord Limfjord in Jutland is already known for their high quality oysters and mussels. In 2010 Vilsund Blue a/s acquired the Limfjord company a/s and merged the two companies into one of the leading mussel producers in Europe.
Over the years the company has grown into a major player in the mussels business and is now delivering fresh, preserved and frozen products to all of the European markets. Through our three production sites in Nykøbing Mors and Aggersund we daily supply our customers around Europe. Our main products are wildcaught Blue Shell Mussels (Mytilus Edulis) and Flat Oysters (Osterea Edulis). The mussels and oysters are caught in the Limfjord in the northern part of Jutland.
