The global fish processing industry gains a major efficiency boost as a long-term liquid waste solution hits the market

A major breakthrough in aquaculture technology has arrived to tackle the demanding waste and hygiene challenges faced by fish farming operations worldwide. Pumping technology pioneer Landia has officially launched the PowerEnsiler, a highly innovative, all-in-one fish silage system designed to maximize process stability and operational efficiency.

Developed specifically for processing fish waste into valuable byproducts, the robust system integrates advanced engineering with the company’s extensive, hands-on global experience. The PowerEnsiler offers fish farms and processing facilities a way to improve daily efficiency while maintaining the highest possible biosecurity standards.

Streamlined Operation and Superior Hygiene

By focusing on high-speed flow and integrated cutting technology, the PowerEnsiler simplifies what is traditionally a complex procedure. The entire system—including both the ensiling tank and the storage tank—is managed through a single, centralized control system. This streamlined approach ensures that operators can maintain stable, reliable processing conditions at all times.

Hygiene serves as a core pillar of the new design, offering maximum biosecurity to prevent contamination. This makes the system particularly suitable for modern aquaculture facilities operating under strict cleanliness regulations.

Furthermore, because all critical components are manufactured directly by Landia, clients are guaranteed complete compatibility, full operational transparency, and single-source responsibility.

Built on Decades of Engineering Excellence

Landia, which was established in 1933, has built the PowerEnsiler to be highly adaptable. The vessels are available in sizes ranging from 35 cubic feet to 883 cubic feet (1m³ to 25m³) and can be ordered in either polyethylene (PE) or acid-resistant AISI-316 stainless steel. For environments requiring heightened safety compliance, ATEX-approved configurations are also available.

At the heart of the system lies the proven Landia Chopper Pump, recognized globally as the world’s very first chopper pump after being invented by the company in 1950. Manufactured in AISI-316 stainless steel, the pump is uniquely engineered to withstand the punishingly low pH levels typical of fish silage applications.

Turning Waste into Wealth

The efficiency of the Landia Chopper Pump’s knife system completely eliminates the need for expensive external grinders. The integrated knives consistently macerate fish heads, bones, guts, and skin into a uniform, homogenous, and pumpable mixture.

This highly efficient process transforms raw fish waste into a valuable silage product, perfectly suited for repurposing as a high-protein animal feed or as an organic liquid fertilizer.

With the global rollout of the PowerEnsiler, Landia strengthens its dominant position in the aquaculture processing sector, delivering a durable, fully integrated solution that optimizes product consistency and drives long-term profitability.

Landia Chopper Pump
