Argentina Renewed the System for Exporting Seafood to South Korea

Inspectors from the Asian country, accompanied by Senasa professionals, toured land plants and ships in Mar del Plata.
Wednesday and Thursday they boarded first the jigger “Natalia” and then the “Sirocco”, both owned by José Moscuzza, although the latter was part of “Pesquera Comercial”. Finally, on Friday, they visited establishment 4424, “Cooperativa Espejo de Mar LTD”.

All of these production units are part of the 300 establishments authorized to export to South Korea. Sources consulted assured that those visited were drawn to carry out an audit on the control of the entire production process, they confided from the Buenos Aires South Regional Center of SENASA. Argentina revalidated the equivalence system for the export of fishery products to South Korea after satisfactorily completing the audit carried out by the Asian country's health service to the health and safety control overseen by the Servicio Nacional de Sanidad y Calidad Agroalimentaria (Senasa).

At the final meeting, held at the headquarters of the Argentine organization, the Korean inspectors – Jaehwan Yoon and Sunghyung Jung – described as “very good” the general state of hygiene and safety of the two land-based fisheries products establishments and three vessels visited. from June 24 to July 1 in Mar del Plata, and they exchanged technical questions related to the tour with Senasa professionals.
Currently, there are around 300 Argentine fishing establishments authorized to send their production to South Korea. Likewise, so far in 2024, Senasa has certified the export of 27,600 tons of fishing products to this destination.
