India’s Surging Fisheries Sector
The visit comes at a time when India’s fisheries sector is seeing unprecedented growth. This upward trend has continued into the current 2025-26 fiscal year.

Production volumes have also seen a dramatic shift. India's total fish production rose to 19.78 million metric tonnes (197.75 lakh tonnes) in 2024-25, a staggering 106 percent increase compared to the 9.58 million metric tonnes (95.79 lakh tonnes) recorded in 2013-14.
This visit underscores India’s commitment to leveraging international expertise to modernize its aquatic food systems and secure its position as a global leader in the blue economy.
