The multinational concludes the final integration phase of its AI feeding program, verifying a 4% FCR reduction for Green Financing Framework compliance.

BERGEN – The aquaculture multinational Mowi ASA has officially presented today the definitive balance of the commercial consolidation of its predictive technology and automated feeding platform across the North Sea and the coasts of Scotland. This closure report, formally integrated today into its operational efficiency strategy for the second half of 2026, marks the culmination of the progressive rollout of its Smart Farming program. The validation of biological data collected over the last 18 months in high hydrodynamic energy environments allows the company to standardize this precision model across all its exposed sites.

The system, which combines high-definition underwater cameras with deep learning algorithms to analyze Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) behavior in real-time, has officially transitioned from a pilot project to a mandatory company-wide operational standard. The automated dosing of suspended feed pellets successfully mitigates loss and prevents feed input from settling on the seabed.

Audited data released today by Mowi reveals the definitive impacts of the system:

  • Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR) Optimization: A proven average reduction of 4% in the FCR index, locking in critical cost savings in the industry’s highest operating expense.

  • Environmental Regulatory Compliance: A 12% decrease in the residual dispersion of nutrients on the seabed, satisfying the current mandates of the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).

  • Biomass Accuracy: Average weight estimates with 98% accuracy and early detection of sea lice.

“Tidal feeding system has provided us automation that lets our feeders shift focus on problem management rather than continuous monitoring. Feeders don’t have to reduce feed rate when they have to divert attention or step away from the desk for a few moments as Tidal is watching the feeding activity for them…The system has shown performance comparable to our manual feeding and we think it will continue to get better.” - ROC Feeding Manager, Mowi ASA. With this audit finalized today, Mowi formally validates to international investment funds its compliance with the environmental criteria linked to its Green Financing Framework, monitored under S&P Global Shades of Green methodologies, backing the allocation of capital from its recent bond placements in Oslo.
