Måløy – Norwegian company Coast Seafood delivered a profit before tax of NOK 124 million (US$ 11.8 million) in 2025, up significantly from NOK 61 million (US$ 5.8 million) in 2024. According to the company, the marked improvement in earnings is the result of a deliberate strategy to prioritize the most profitable business areas within the group rather than focusing solely on sales volume.
The group's operating revenue in 2025 reached NOK 7,264 million (US$ 692.3 million), reflecting a decline from NOK 7,879 million (US$ 750.9 million) in 2024. This change was due to a combination of lower sales volumes and lower market prices. Despite this environment, Coast Seafood maintains a strong financial position, backed by an equity ratio of 43 percent.
"The strong 2025 result demonstrates the Coast team's ability to navigate change and market turbulence. By increasing our focus on higher-margin processed products, we have improved profitability during a period of lower volumes and lower salmon prices. Coast is now a full-service seafood supplier capable of meeting customer demands globally while strengthening the competitiveness of Norwegian seafood," said Sverre Søraa, CEO of Coast Seafood.
The seafood industry is undergoing significant change, characterized by increasing consolidation within the aquaculture sector, where medium-sized and large players continue to strengthen their market positions. This environment reinforces the need for clear value creation throughout the supply chain and more targeted and innovative market development. In response to these dynamics, Coast Seafood continues to strengthen its role as an active commercial partner, with particular emphasis on differentiation, product development, and market adaptation across species and market segments.
A key element of this strategy is the continued investment in processed, consumer-friendly products, including ready-to-eat solutions and portioned products for retail and convenience segments. The organization's ambition is to increase the share of processed products within its overall portfolio over time.
Currently, Coast Seafood employs nearly 900 people and is headquartered in Måløy, Norway, operating across various stages of the seafood value chain.
