Salmon production in Russian aquaculture may rise from 136.8 thousand tons in 2021 to 250 thousand tons by 2030. In 2020, 116.2 thousand tons of salmon were produced in the country, the TASS agency quotes the deputy head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries, Vasily Sokolov.
Other indicators of aquaculture production also increased in 2020-2021. Mariculture increased year on year from 51.1 thousand tons to 58.7 thousand tons. In 2021, sturgeon fish were produced at 6.1 thousand tons, while in 2020 - 5.7 thousand tons. The volume of cyprinids reared, on the contrary, decreased over the reporting period. According to Sokolov, the figure in 2021 amounted to 155 thousand tons against 155.5 thousand tons in 2020.
Representatives of Rosselkhozbank also gave forecasts for the development of Russian aquaculture. According to Irina Zhachkina, First Deputy Chairman of the Board of the Bank, about 60 billion rubles can be invested in the development of aquaculture in the Russian Federation in the future. The average consumption of fish in the country, according to the estimates of the financial institution, could be 24 kg per person per year.
