Aquafinca Saint Peter Fish is a company located in northwestern Honduras cultivation of fresh tilapia in Lake Yojoa and Capon . Almost all production is for export to Central America and the United States , but also exported to Europe and Asia. The rest is used for the production of fishmeal and tilapia , which is then sold to feed manufacturers Hondurans.
Established in 1994, Aquafinca born as a small company with about 35 employees. Six years after the Spring Regal Group , a company of European capital that already had a tilapia farm on the island of Java (Indonesia ) , acquired all of the Honduran company . Since then , exports became the main activity Aquafinca Honduras : internationalization began his story.
His numbers were good from the start, and in 2004 launched its first tilapia processing plant , recently awarded by the Board of Aquacultural Certification with certificate of Best Aquaculture Practices (Best Aquaculture Practices - BAP). Today, Aquafinca exported 18 million pounds ( over 8,100 tons) of fish from its Honduran plant.
