The Argentine Patagonian Chamber of Fishing Industries C.A.P.I.P was created in 1984 by a group of companies that understood that associated efforts could be better than individual ones. It was a time of expansion of the industry, of great investments and establishments of companies along the entire Patagonian maritime coast.
Today the chamber has 16 associated companies, 55 vessels including beam trawlers, jiggers, freezer trawlers and freshwater vessels, employs 4,000 people directly, and has 14 production establishments, mostly in Puerto Madryn, also in Trelew, Rawson and Santa Cruz. . In 2019, the exports of the members of the chamber represented 22.2% of the total national fishing exports, 35.6% of the Patagonian fishing exports and 14.5% of the total general exports of Chubut.
