The RD Manufacturing Group is spearheaded by the Philbest Canning Corporation, a tuna processing plant located in Barangay Tambler, General Santos City. It is looked up to by the community as a major source of employment, growth and development. Philbest is a holder of ISO 9001:2000 certification.
The cannery produces two varieties of canned tuna products – 307 for retail and 603 for food service products. With a manufacturing capacity of 150 metric tons per day, the plant employs more than 1,500 residents in the area.
The scheduled expansion of tuna pouch will bring the total capacity to 200 metric tons. The other tuna cannery is located in Madang, Papua new Guinea with daily capacity of 140 MT, employing 3,500 Papua New Guineans.
The 3rd cannery, the Celebes Canning Corporation is located in Gen. Santos City with a capacity of 100metric tons daily.
The bulk of the products are exported worldwide, with the United States and Europe as the biggest markets.
