The Federal Government of the United States Allocates 123.6 Million Dollars to Mitigate Fishery Disasters

Alaska Will Receive the Largest Share of the Funds Assigned by NOAA to Counteract the Collapse of Critical Seafood Stocks NOAA Fisheries has confirmed the distribution of 123.6 million dollars in fishery disaster assistance funding. These resources, approved by Congress under the American Relief Act of 2025, are designated to address economic damage caused by fishery resource disasters officially declared between 2019 and 2023 in the states of Alaska, Oregon, California, and Washington, including the Squaxin Island Tribe. Within the federal distribution, the state of Alaska established itself as the primary beneficiary by receiving approximately $99 million dollars to address three specific catastrophes in its crab and salmon fisheries.
