Russia Surpasses 1 Million Tons in Fish Catch as Key Basins Drive Early-Year Surge

Strong performance in the Far East offsets moderate gains across other regions, according to official data MOSCOW — Russia’s fishing industry has crossed a major early-year milestone, with total aquatic bioresource catches reaching 1,092,900 tons, according to the industry monitoring system of Rosrybolovstvo (Federal Agency for Fisheries). The figures highlight the dominant role of the Far Eastern basin, while other regions show steady but more modest contributions. Far Eastern Fishery Basin: 936,400 tons The Far Eastern basin remains the backbone of Russia’s fishing sector, accounting for the overwhelming majority of the national catch. Pollock: 698,600 tons
