Carceller’s representative on the board of the Galician multinational firm Pescanova, José Carceller Arce, admitted in the High Court that he has more bonds in the company than those that have been revealed so far.
That is to say, the Carcellers are revealed as the largest of Pescanova’s shareholders, with about 8 per cent of the capital. Apart from 6.2 per cent of the social capital that Damm controls, they have another 1.6 per cent through Corporación Disa [the Carcellers’ oil firm], the newspaper Faro de Vigo informed.
Both José Carceller Arce and Demetrio Carceller, Damm’s chairperson, have the control of the multinational fisheries firm.
Both executives joined the shares purchased by the brewer firm, Disa and by José Carceller himself, totalling about 8 per cent of outstanding shares.
Sources of Pescanova previous council said they were unaware of the Carcellers’ move, which from the former chairperson environment situated "between late 2012 and early 2013."
This implies that it occurred before the outbreak of the crisis that Pescanova faced and before the firm ended up in creditors’ meeting phase.
At that time, the Carcellers acquired 469,000 shares, as Jose Carceller told the High Court judge, Pablo Ruz.
From the brewer firm they clarified that "Damm and Disa are not the same although they share the chairperson." The other most important partner in the Damm Group is the German firm Dr. August Oetker, which owns more than 25 per cent.
"If this has not been revealed before is because Disa’s participation does not exceed 3 per cent," they added.
