The United Kingdom’s control of its own waters will lead to Scotland securing a far greater share of its stocks, representing huge rewards for fishing sector, according to the Scottish White Fish Producers’ Association (SWFPA) chief executive Mike Park.
Park also believes that if the UK attains Coastal State status like Norway, there will be greater stability for the coastal communities that “still bear the scars of a failed Common Fisheries Policy,” The Scotsman reported.
The executive recommends putting in place structures and processes that promote good governance; co-management groups with shared responsibility and accountability.
