SONGA (Sociedad Nacional de Galápagos C.A.) was founded in 1932 in the legendary Galápagos Islands to process tuna, lobster and other seafood. In 1982 it moved to Guayaquil. Once SONGA re-settled, it acquired by one of its present owners, invited another fellow-shrimp grower to co-owned the company. The combined operation assured SONGA with 70% of the shrimp sold.
Both partners own 5.100 hectares of shrimp farms which combined with the output of another 2.000 hectares of year-round loyal suppliers, assures an annual production of 14.000 tons.
