The Union of Fishing Shipowners of France (UAPF) is an employers' union which aims to bring together French fishing companies, whether they are managed by on-board or non-on-board business leaders, regardless of their location. of activity, their trades or the size of the vessel(s).
Many of the current members of the UAPF come from deep-sea fishing and offshore fishing, but in recent years, smaller vessels have joined us. The UAPF considers that the different types of fishing are fundamentally complementary and that it is necessary to strengthen employer representation in the fishing sector, financially independent and active, to better promote the interests of companies and defend the legitimacy of commercial fishing and its long-term profitability.
Our members fish in the waters of the Northeast Atlantic, West Africa, the Indian Ocean, and the Southern Ocean, both in international waters, EEZs and in the coastal strip.
The primary commitment of the UAPF is to respond daily to the needs of its members and to defend their interests, at the international, community, national and even regional level on all subjects:
Resource management and access to water
Ships (entry into fleet, control, security, etc.)
Aid for businesses (Taxation, EMFF, Covid, Brexit, etc.)
Defend good environmental practices
Questions relating to seafarers (recruitment, social rights, training, etc.)
To do this, we ensure active participation in a large number of professional or institutional meetings to represent our members, and maintain relationships with a wide audience of professionals, administrations and research institutes.
