Today, CFTO operates in the Atlantic Ocean and Indian Ocean from bases in Abidjan in Ivory Coast and Port Victoria in the Seychelles. Our 15 deep freeze tuna purse seiners use cutting edge technology and work in complete transparency using sustainable and responsible fishing methods, completely independently from the canner’s industry.
CFTO is currently the largest tropical tuna fishing fleet in Europe. Our main target is big yellowfin tuna on free school. As a sustainable fishery, we willingly limit the use of FADs in order to limit accidental catches and now focusing on the developement biodegradable FAD.
