The Cooperative Fisheries Shipowners Puerto de Vigo was established formally on December 2, 1964. The purpose behind it at the time of its establishment was to promote economic and social improvement of its partners, through their joint action, joining forces in a collective work.
The Cooperative Fisheries Shipowners Puerto de Vigo associated, to date, a fleet that comprises 384 vessels, of which 133 251 are frozen and fresh fish, with approximately 121 949 gross registered tons and about 6,600 crew members board. The catch exceeded 400,000 tons a year between fresh, frozen and salted.
