On 9 March 2018, the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries granted development licences for realizing the Arctic Offshore Farming concept. These licences are signs of recognition of a long and successful development process where NRS, Aker and Aker Solutions have jointly developed a semi-submersible offshore fish farming system, designed for harsh environment. Locating the submerged farms further away from the coast significantly improves the utilisation of Norwegian territorial waters and reduces the environmental footprint at the same time.
