Before joining ASI, he worked as a timber production manager and certification advisor for several Latvian forest companies and provided training and project development services for forest certification and rural communities.
Mr Laguns holds an MSc in Forest Policy and Economics and a BSc in Forestry from the Latvian University of Agriculture. Mr Laguns is a Latvian national, fluent in English, Russian and Latvian.
