Out of the beds dealing with mussel farming on Galician estuaries, only five were open, because of the presence of a toxin.

On Galician markets, during week 16, total volumes of auctioned shellfish increased by 172 tonnes. Dropps have affected all species analysed, except for sea urchin, sabre clam and ox crab that reported a rise. The most important decline was that of manila clam.

On Mercamadrid, supplies of shellfish increased by 5 tonnes during week 15. The most important drops were those in fresh Norway lobster, farmed clam and national barnacle. The most important rises were those in frozen Norway lobster and large snail.

At French ports, during week 16, volumes of striped venus dropped by 2.6 tonnes and those of Norway lobster increased by 4.2 tonnes.

Italy

At Italian ports, during week 16, volumes of shellfish increased slightly in the case of spider crab and stone crab, and those of the rest of species declined. The most important rises were those in mantis shrimp, dye murex and Norway lobster. The main ports were Goro, Ancona, Cesenatico, Civitanova Marche and San Benedetto del Tronto.

Prices

Spain

On Galician markets, during week 16, the prices of most shellfish species declined. Those of banded carpet shell, warty venus, Norway lobster increased because of a drop in supplies. Those of sabre clam and sea urchin rose due to the higher demand. Those of the rest of species declined, mostly because of a lower demand.

On Mercamadrid, during week 16, prices of all species analysed remained stable in all species and presentations, except for that of national barnacle that rose by EUR 10.67/kg due to a higher4 demand.

Italy

At Italian ports, during week 16, prices of European lobster, Norway lobster, spider crab, dye murex and pelican’s foot dropped because of a poorer demand. Those of crab, stone crabs, mantis shrimp and mussel increased as a consequence of a drop in supplies.
