Detailed Selling Lead Description
Subject: United Kingdom - Offer - Scottish seafood a hit with top chefs!
Message:
A recent visit to the West coast of Scotland to look at the inshore fishery on Loch
Fyne, proved to be a real hit with Arran Seymour from the Gordon Ramsay Group,
Renee Miller from Le Gavroche, former Masterchef Winner Dhruv Baker, and
Masterchef judge and food entrepreneur Monica Galetti.
Organised by Seafood Scotland through the Inshore Creel Support Fund, the trip
aimed to showcase the live langoustine, lobster and brown crab sectors, to
discuss its sustainable credentials, and to highlight the socio economic importance
of the industry.
The group enjoyed a boat trip to shoot and retrieve creels with the Creel
Fishermen’s Federation, then toured a live holding facility for shellfish, before
sampling a seafood lunch in Inveraray.
At dinner, where they were joined by James Withers, CEO of Scotland Food and
Drink, the chefs heard more about the wider seafood industry and Scotland as a
Land of Food and Drink.
James Cook from major shellfish exporters D R Collin, who is a member of the
Scottish Creel Fishermen's Federation, joined the chefs on their tour.
“I was pleased to support such a worthwhile event. It was a great opportunity to
meet a talented group of chefs and to understand better how passionate they are
about sustainably caught Scottish seafood,” said James.
“They gained a valuable insight into our industry, and it was useful for us to
discuss the creel fishery with people who drive and innovate the eating scene
throughout the UK. We produce and sell shellfish, but their passion transforms it
into something spectacular!” he added.
“Thank you Seafood Scotland for such a fascinating and utterly delicious couple of
days. I will be rewriting menus!” tweeted Dhruv Baker.
