Within the framework of the Specific Sanitary Program for Surveillance and Official Control of Infectious Salmon Anemia (ISAv) carried out by the National Fisheries and Aquaculture Service (Sernapesca), and as a result of the suspicion reported to the Punta Entrada de Empresas Aquachile center due to clinical signs compatible with ISAv, the Service began the epidemiological investigation in the fish farm of origin of the suspect farm, obtaining positive results of diagnostic analysis for the ISA virus and negative for the discriminatory HPR0 in the Hollemberg Fish Farm, proceeding to notify on 06 March to Empresas Aquachile from the Suspect category to the presence of ISAv now in a freshwater center also in the Magallanes region.

Within the framework of the activities established in these cases, Sernapesca veterinarians entered the Hollemberg fish farm last Wednesday, March 1, with the aim of evaluating the health condition of the fish in situ. In said control procedure, the necropsy of specimens was carried out, without being able to detect signs of the ISA disease in the examined fish. However, the fish samples were still taken, which were analyzed in the ISA aquaculture pathogens laboratory (reference laboratory), of the PUCV, yielding positive results that support the categorization of the center as Suspect.
With regard to the fattening center Suspicious of ISAv, Punta Entrada, since Thursday, March 2, it has been carrying out harvesting operations for fish from the center, prioritizing cages with signs and higher mortality levels. The harvesting process has been carried out with all the necessary biosafety standards, finding 3 cages harvested to date. Thus, the farming center currently maintains around 529,000 fish (approx. 725 tons), distributed in 6 farming cages.
Finally, from Sernapesca they indicate that they are deployed in the field supervising biosecurity, the classification of mortality and the sanitary condition of the fish, starting this week an ISA verification sanitary campaign in the area of influence for the centers near Punta Entrada.
