ABANCA and the Fishing Shipowners' Cooperative of the Port of Vigo (ARVI) have just signed a new joint collaboration agreement for the development of the fifth edition of the 'Festival ARVI do Peixe, Vigo SeaFest', which will be held in the olive city of July 11 to 14 and has been sponsored by the financial institution since its inception.

The territorial director of ABANCA in Vigo, Walter Álvarez, and the president of ARVI, Javier Touza, consolidated this morning at the bank's headquarters in Vigo the commitment of both entities to promote a new edition of this important festive promotional event of seafood, which combines gastronomy, music, sports, family workshops and sectoral round tables. The event also included the participation of Javier Fraga, director of ABANCA Mar, the ABANCA business unit specialized in the marine value chain.

This new alliance reinforces the commitment of ABANCA and ARVI to the fishing sector and the blue economy, and to the valorization of marine protein as a healthy, safe and sustainable food source. Furthermore, the agreement constitutes another step in the historic joint work of both entities in the financial fields and in promoting environmentally friendly economic development, reflected in an annual agreement. This collaboration framework allows the associated Vigo shipowners to access advantageous conditions and flexible credit alternatives adapted to their particular needs, with special attention to the financing of investments in energy efficiency, biodiversity and improvement of the climate impact of the fishing fleet.

As in previous editions, 'Vigo SeaFest 2024', with free access, will celebrate the consumption of fish with the collaboration of several Galician chefs, who will offer signature cuisine and showcooking activities with seafood donated by shipping companies associated with ARVI . The festival will be held in the area of the Elduayen and Náutico de Vigo Gardens where, in addition to gastronomy, the public will be able to enjoy musical performances by outstanding groups during the four days, as well as family workshops, children's activities and sports. The complete program of the event can be found at www.vigoseafest.com.
