The 2024 Taizhou Harvest Celebration Series took place in Sanmen County on September 29, 2024, coinciding with China's seventh Farmers’ Harvest Festival. Co-hosted by the China Fisheries Association and the Sanmen County Government, the event celebrated local agricultural achievements and the fishing industry's cultural heritage.
During the opening ceremony, Peng Binhui, Executive Deputy Secretary-General of the China Fisheries Association, announced the upcoming release of the group standard for "Sanmen Blue Crab Commercial Crab Grade Specifications." Several experts, including Li Jiale, former president of Shanghai Ocean University, shared insights on fisheries, shellfish farming, and rural revitalization.
Participants engaged in various activities, including the Sanmen Blue Crab King Competition, fishing games, and cultural exhibitions. These events, such as crab bundling and oyster picking, highlighted traditional fishing customs while promoting tourism and cultural preservation in Sanmen Bay. The China Fisheries Association's Fishery Culture Branch also contributed by showcasing local craftsmanship and organizing a fishing team.
Sanmen County, known as the "Hometown of Chinese Blue Crabs," is a national leader in marine aquaculture, boasting over 200 types of seafood, with several products protected by geographical indication. This event aimed to promote Sanmen's unique fishery brand and support its sustainable development.
