Mixed Trends in Frozen Pollock Wholesale Prices by Size - Week 49 Update

As of December 5, 2024, wholesale prices for frozen pollock displayed varied trends by size. Prices for sizes 6 and 8 experienced slight increases, while sizes 7 and 9 remained unchanged.
Import Trends Through November 2024
Korea imported 133,015 tons of frozen pollock by the end of November 2024, marking a 2% rise from 129,897 tons during the same period in 2023. Despite this growth in volume, the total import value fell by 5%, amounting to USD 130.44 million compared to USD 137.99 million in 2023. The average import price dropped to USD 0.98 per kilogram, an 8% decline from USD 1.06 per kilogram in 2023.

By Origin:
- Russia: USD 0.98/kg (accounting for 98.89% of total imports, or 131,539 tons)
- United States: USD 1.27/kg (1.01%, or 1,348 tons)
- China: USD 1.61/kg (0.1%, or 127 tons)
Wholesale Prices and Notable Changes

In the domestic market, prices varied across sizes:
- Size 7: KRW 37,500 (unchanged)
- Size 8: KRW 31,000, reflecting an 8.8% increase from KRW 28,500 in September 2024 and a 5.1% rise from KRW 29,500 in November 2024.
These mixed price trends highlight shifting dynamics in the frozen pollock market as demand and supply factors interact both domestically and internationally.
