Mercado de tilapia
Great Lakes Region, a reduction of three cents and the price The average price of a kilo of tilapia was sold at R$ 9.58 (USD 1.72). North of Paraná, a reduction of R$ 2.00 (USD 0.40) and the average price sold at R$ 10.02 (USD 2.01). Western region of Paraná, increase of R$ 0.01 (USD 0.0020). And the average price was sold at R$ 9.41 (USD 1.89). Now, Minas Gerais, Morada Nova region has a reduction of R$ 0.01 (USD 0.0020) and the average price is R$ 9.40 (USD 1.89).
And in Triângulo Mineiro Alto, Paranaíba, a stable market, the price remained at R$ 0.06 (USD 0.012). What we observed this week was a reduction in purchases, in sales with slaughterhouses, which is normal, because the fish, the fillet, which will be sold during Holy Week, has already arrived in supermarkets. But we had a huge increase in the purchase of fresh tilapia, which will be destined, mainly, for the fairs, which is a specific product for this Holy Week.
Regarding natives, a lot of commercialization and a lot of transport, because the absolute majority, more than 90%, sell fresh products in markets and supermarkets. And this product is already on the road or has already reached its destination. It was a very busy week. Next week will reduce it a little, because after all, the native fish ends up traveling a lot from Rondônia, going to Manaus, going to São Paulo, going to Goiânia, going to Brasília. So, there are many kilometers to go.
Brazilian delegation in Vietnam
This delegation has the head of the delegation, Roberto Perosa, from the Secretariat of International Relations, of the Ministry of Agriculture. We also have representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and we had the support and monitoring of Ambassador Farane and Agricultural Attache Juliano, who contributed decisively to the success of this mission. We have representatives from the meat industry, mainly cattle, equipment, pork and trees, but we have representatives from BPA, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association, ABIEC, the Brazilian Association of Disporters of meat manufacturers and Abra, which is the Brazilian Association of Animal Recycling, which are sectors that are negotiating with the Vietnamese government for the entry of these products into market movements.
One of the main focuses of our discussion was exactly the issue of exporting tilapia. We had the opportunity to meet with the government of Vietnam, with the Minister of Agriculture. We had a very good, very efficient action by our secretary Perosa in the negotiations, complemented by our ambassador Farane and the Agricultural Attaché, where we had the opportunity to explain the current status of tilapiculture in Brazil, and the impacts of this import and the reason for the suspension, mainly due to health issues. Vietnam has a very small tilapia production, it is not significant, and today, we, Brazil, buy 30% of Vietnam's fish production. It is the main economic partner, so it makes sense to continue imports.
The suspension of imports is maintained
It is logical that this process continues to be negotiated, but Secretary Perosa had significant achievements. Before this mission, Secretary Goulard, who is the secretary of the Agricultural Defense Secretariat of Mapa, was here, who did exceptional work, provided the justification, and presented the reasons for the suspension of the import of tilapia here from Vietnam. So, our thanks to Secretary Goulard and — special thanks — to Minister Fávaro, who led this action to suspend imports of Vietnamese tilapia, but maintained negotiations for other products from Vietnam and Brazil to Vietnam as well.
