Santa Elena – The Ecuadorian shrimp industry is a key pillar of the national economy, being the second non-oil traditional product that generates the largest amount of foreign exchange for the country and the largest supplier of shrimp to markets such as the United States, Spain, and France. Within this sector, the larval stage is crucial for the yield and profitability of crops, as it defines the quality of the shrimp in its future development.
Aware of this challenge, Vitapro, through its brand Nicovita, participated in Aqua Expo Santa Elena, one of the most important events in the sector, organized by the National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA). During the event, the company presented its latest innovations in nutrition for the initial phase of cultivation, reaffirming its commitment to the sustainable and efficient development of the shrimp sector.
Specialized Nutrition for Successful Cultivation
During the fair, Nicovita presented the renewal of its initial feeding portfolio, which includes solutions designed specifically for the substages of breeders and larvae in laboratories. Among this evolution, Origin Larvae stood out, a feed formulated to maximize productivity from the earliest stages of cultivation, thanks to its optimized nutritional profile. This diet contains 52% highly digestible protein, which improves nutrient absorption, enhancing shrimp growth and feed conversion efficiency. In addition, its innovative microspherization technology ensures pellet homogeneity, which contributes to size parity.
On the other hand, this technology reduces leaching (loss of vitamins and nutrients upon contact with water) by up to 50%, which provides some benefits: the pellet maintains its shape, does not decompose or waste feed, nutrients are maintained, and better water quality and less environmental impact are ensured.
As part of its comprehensive strategy, the company highlighted Nicovita's N Start, a pioneering system that groups the four elements that have the greatest impact on the success of the initial stage of crops:

Alliance with Texcumar: Strengthening Shrimp's Initial Feeding
As part of its commitment to the development of innovative solutions, last year, Vitapro, in alliance with Texcumar and its Acuatecsa laboratory, signed an agreement to strengthen the initial phase of shrimp cultivation in Ecuador through the development of specialized feeding protocols for laboratories. The objective is to optimize larval survival and growth, ensuring more efficient and sustainable production.

This alliance seeks to offer comprehensive and sustainable solutions that provide long-term value, boosting the competitiveness of producers in an increasingly demanding market.
A Commitment to Sustainability and Productive Efficiency
The participation of Vitapro, through its brand Nicovita, at Aqua Expo Santa Elena represents another step in its commitment to the development of the aquaculture industry. Through innovation in feed and technologies that optimize productive efficiency, the company reaffirms its commitment to responsible, profitable, and high-performance aquaculture.
“We are convinced that the future of the shrimp sector lies in the integration of technological and nutritional solutions that optimize each phase of cultivation. Aqua Expo Santa Elena has been a valuable opportunity to share our vision and reaffirm our leadership in aquaculture nutrition,” commented Luis Suarez, Technological Development Manager.
With its significant participation in this event, Vitapro and its Nicovita brand consolidate their presence in the Ecuadorian industry, strengthening their value proposition and reaffirming their commitment to the sustainable development of the shrimp sector.
