Guarding legal fishing: fisheries protection in Kamchatka is working in enhanced mode

Fishery protection of the North-Eastern territorial administration of Rosrybolovstvo identified almost 180 offenses in the first ten days of June.

Industrial salmon fishing in Kamchatka, the leader in terms of catch volumes among the Far Eastern regions, started on June 1.

Rosrybolovstvo inspectors have begun their “busy time”: river patrols take place around the clock.

There are still many violators - neither high fines nor criminal articles stop the thirst for profit.

Over the 10 days of June, 177 protocols on administrative offenses were drawn up, of which 5 materials were transferred to the investigative authorities for initiating criminal cases. More than 900 kg of salmon, 56 fishing gear and 15 vehicles were seized from poachers.

This year, it is planned to use more than 300 people to monitor legal salmon fishing: these are inspectors from the North-Eastern territorial administration and other territorial departments of Rosrybolovstvo (seconded during the Putin season), employees of security, law enforcement, and regulatory authorities of the Kamchatka Territory, as well as public inspectors.

In areas where salmon approach, which especially attract the attention of poachers, 61 stationary posts and 30 mobile (operational) groups are working.
