Russian-Chinese cooperation in the field of fisheries is based on mutual interest and long-term perspective. In general, the strategic partnership between Russia and China is actively developing, relying on many years of good-neighborly relations.

According to Chinese customs statistics, 1.29 million tons of fish products were exported from Russia in 2023 (36.1% more than in the same period in 2022), worth $2.89 billion (+ 4.88%). In the first five months of 2024, 522.64 thousand tons of fish products were delivered to China - practically at the same level as last year.
The main fish exports to China are pollock (about 60% of the total), herring, sardines, fishmeal and crab.

In 2023, the first Russian crab festival was held in Shanghai, aimed at popularizing seafood from the Russian Federation. Currently, Russian fishing companies are promoting crab products on the Chinese market, creating a new consumer segment, since China is traditionally a consumer of live crab.
In 2023, Far Eastern crab supplies to China amounted to more than 12.5 thousand tons. In 2024, the export volume increased by 10%. Live crabs also have positive growth dynamics in value and reached USD 461.3 million, which is 29% (+ USD 103.7 million) more than a year earlier.

Over the past two years, the geography of fish exports has expanded to 80 countries. By the end of 2023, the volume of fish product deliveries to foreign markets increased by 200 thousand to 2.5 million tons (+9%, 2022 - 2.3 million tons).
The main importers of Russian fish products are: China, the Republic of Korea, the Netherlands, Japan, Nigeria, Germany. Among the new countries are: Albania, Angola, Bangladesh, Vanuatu, Guyana, Qatar, Liberia, Morocco, Niger, Palau, Panama, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Montenegro, Chile, South Africa.
