Wildlife group suggests giving bluefin endangered status

Tuna fishers in Prince Edward Island (PEI) are fighting against the classification of Atlantic bluefin tuna as endangered in Canada. They say the move would devastate them because there are not many species left that they can fish.
"It would be most helpful if this species was just left alone for a while to see if it would start to recover without fishing,” said committee member Alan Sinclair. “If we could forego fishing for a few years then maybe there'd be signs of recovery and good reasons for optimism."
