National grocer and retailer Big C Supercenter is about to launch 200 new stores across the country for a cost of USD 272 million. It is also planning to develop two distribution centres to reduce the risks from flooding.
At first, the company will introduce six hypermarkets, 13 Big C Markets, 150 Mini Big Cs and 50 Pure drug stores at a cost of USD 170 million; the remaining USD 102 million will be invested in the construction of two distribution centres to be located in northern and eastern Bangkok.
This year, the firm will open 50-70 new Mini Big C stores. These will bring Big C's total number of outlets to 565, including 119 hypermarkets, 31 Big C Markets, 275 Mini Big Cs and 140 Pure drug stores.
