Scientists are claiming to have found out that radiation contamination from Japan’s Fukushima Dai-ichi power plants poses only minimal health risks to humans and fish.
After reporting in 2012 the existence of radioactivity from the damaged power plants due to the Fukushima earthquake and tsunami in Pacific bluefin tuna caught off California, Nicholas Fisher, a distinguished professor in the School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences (SoMAS) at Stony Brook University, Zosia Baumann from Stanford University’s Hopkins Marine Station, together with colleagues at Stanford and the French Institute for Radiological Protection and Nuclear Safety (IRSN) performed new research.
