Since 1990, Culmárex Group has been dedicated to the rearing and marketing of sea bream and sea bass, the tastiest and healthiest fish in the Mediterranean diet.
Culmárex was founded in 1986 in Aguilas by a group of Spanish investors to rear yellowtail and oysters. In 1990, the company became 50% owned by Marine Farms a Norwegian multinational dedicated to aquaculture and operating in Europe, Asia & Central America.
After some years of growth, Culmárex became 100% owned by Marine Farms in 1996. Culmarex’s operations remain centred on the Murcian coastal town of Aguilas.
2011 - Cooke Seafood acquires Culmarex S.A., the largest sea bass and sea bream farming operation in Spain.
