CFIA's plans and priorities link directly to the Government of Canada's priorities for bolstering economic prosperity, strengthening security at the border and of the safety of the food supply, protecting the environment and contributing to the health of Canadians.
Our strategic outcomes
Public health risks associated with the food supply and transmission of animal disease to humans are minimized and managed
A safe and sustainable plant and animal resource base
Contributes to consumer protection and market access based on the application of science and standards
The CFIA is led by a President who reports to the Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food. The President is supported by an executive team that allows us to meet our commitments to science and to deal with the continuum of food production from primary production to the retail level.
