WOFCO was born from the experience and "know-how" of its five partners, covering the entire production chain, from capture to marketing in more than thirty countries spread over five continents. Alberto Barreiro and Borja Tenorio from their headquarters in Vigo; Alfredo Méndez, a Spanish businessman living in Vietnam, Giansandro Perotti, an Ecuadorian shipowner; and Kunming Yang, owner of plants and ships of Chinese origin, founded Worldwide Fishing Company in 2016, becoming in a few months a recognized company in the sector.
Wofco establishes its factory and its headquarters in Vigo, one of the most important ports in the world. Aware of the importance of modernization in processes, R & D & I and new technologies, our facilities grow along with the needs of the market and the company's human capital.
At Wofco, we know how important is the responsible management of natural resources, the protection of aquatic ecosystems and the environment. To do this, we certify our fishing activity through:
The Sustainable Fisheries Partnership (SFP) Target 75 Initiative.
MSC certificate with which we guarantee that our fishing activity is carried out ethically, responsibly and with the least possible environmental impact.
The ISSF certification that guarantees the sustainability of the tuna stock, reducing accidental catch and promoting the health of the marine ecosystem.
In addition, at Wofco we work in an ethical way complying with the legal requirements and international measures regarding fishing, such as minimum sizes, closures, biological stoppages and selective fishing gear to guarantee the preservation of the fishing grounds.
