For their part, from Salmón Chile they valued the signal from the regional council and stated that they will work together to find those responsible for the act.
The Environmental Commission of the Los Lagos Regional Council will request mitigation measures from salmon companies and greater powers for Sernapesca in the face of the last salmon escape that occurred in Lake Llanquihue at the end of February.
The members of the commission met with the representatives of Salmón Chile, from whom they requested a report on the current status of the companies that have freshwater centers in Lake Llanquihue, which would allow the regional councilors to know the status of the industry in relation to environmental care.
The president of the commission, Francisco Reyes, indicated that "our dialogue has to do with generating some agreements, so that the work of the salmon farms is effectively framed in our regional development strategy that has to do with the protection of bodies of water in a lake as important as Llanquihue, clearly so that they start generating production mechanisms on land and abandon the lake".
"This is how we have raised it with great force and also supporting the declaration and the work that the mayors have developed," he added.
The representative of Salmón Chile, Tomás Monje, valued the signal from the Environment Commission about knowing the details of what happened in the last salmon escape that occurred in the Frutillar commune and stated that "as a productive sector we have been very responsible in say that those responsible have to be found, no particular group has been mentioned regarding responsibility".
"It was also a meeting where the feelings of a mayor of the basin could be expressed, where the regional government also spoke about the development strategy and how we can make the development of our activity within Los Lagos compatible," added the representative.
Among the agreements raised by the members of the commission, the power to officiate to the corresponding organizations such as Sernapesca was established so that it is reinforced and has a regular director, in addition to the control mechanisms working and giving the guarantees that the state must offer for the ecosystem protection in the Los Lagos region.
