Recommendations on experimental labeling of caviar are presented

The first meeting of the Working Group under the CRPT was held to conduct an experiment on labeling caviar of sturgeon and salmon species. 

In accordance with the Decree of the Government of Russia dated April 14 this year, the experiment will take place until the end of March 2024. It applies to caviar of sturgeon (TN VED EAEU 1604 31 000 0) and salmon (TN VED 1604 32 001 0) fish species, including the roe of these two fish species (0305 ​​20 000 0).

During the first meeting of the working group, representatives of the CRPT presented the concept of the experiment and the general principles. 

In addition, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has developed guidelines for its participants. They define the procedure for marking during the experiment, the procedure for registering and providing participants with information on the circulation of goods in the information system, the characteristics of identification tools and other aspects.

Chairman of the Fish Union Alexander Panin is a member of the working group on labeling and interacts on this project with the Coordinating Council of Fisheries Associations of the Far East.

“Labeling can become an important tool for organizing traceability throughout the entire chain of movement of goods, which will increase the level of consumer confidence in fish products. A conscientious business is ready to support such projects, provided that the stated goals are achievable and bring real practical benefits to the market and consumers, and do not turn into another administrative barrier that only increases the cost of production. Therefore, we will look for the most optimal solutions,” said Alexander Panin.
