Attorney denounces Sajo Industries subsidiary for non-payment
(ARGENTINA, 8/30/2013)
An attoney who represented the Argentinean subsidiary of the South Korean group Sajo Industries Ltd. in two cases before the labour courts claims that the company has left the country without paying her fees.
Dongah Argentina, a subsidiary that is wholly owned by the South Korean group Sajo Industries Ltd., has ceased its activities in Argentina and has apparently transferred its vessels Dasa 508 and Dasa 757 to a company in Mar del Plata.
But the attorney Paula Mastronardi told FIS.com that despite having left the country, the company still has not paid the fees that had been set by a judge.
The attorney explained that she represented Dongah Argentina in a case before the Department of Labour's Office, and in another one at the ordinary labour court, in the case "MARTINEZ PEDRO EUGENIO C/DONGAH ARGENTINA SAS/ACCIDENT - CIVIL ACTION," in which the claim filed by a worker for the sum of ARS 7 million after an accident that took place on board one of the ships was rejected.
Mastronardi stressed that, if the demand had prospered, the updated capital of the sentence since the date of the accident would have been ARS 16,786,700 (approximately USD 3,052,000).
The attorney described it is shameful that, apart from the fact that the Argentinean subsidiary of Sajo Industries has left many debts in the country, "it has not paid the fees to the professional that has defended their interests, and that the firm was ultimately enabled, at the time, to sell and/or transfer their vessels freely, since there were no execution measures and/or extension of bankruptcy related to the trial on them or on their managers."
According to Mastronardi, the fact that the company has not paid "the ridiculous sum amounting to USD 15,000" to the person who exercised her professional work "reduces all its commercial and institutional credibility."
