Russian Fishery to set up pollock processing plant in the Russian Far East

The Russian Fishery Company (RFC) has announced plans to start setting up a fish processing factory at Nadezhdinskaya Priority Development Territory, close to Vladivostok, in the Russian Far East.

The plant will require a total investment amounting to USD 12-15 million and will be equipped with cutting edge high technology.

Representatives of the firm explained that the new plant, called Russian Pollock, will offer a processing capacity of more than 60,000 tonnes of pollock with an output of 25,000 tonnes of high value-added products. The Company plans to put the factory into operation in 2020.

Besides, according to the conditions of “investment quota” program, RFC will receive additionally 14,500 tonnes of pollock and herring quota once “Russian Pollock” factory is commissioned.

"The construction of modern on-shore processing facilities will be an important step in the implementation of RFC strategy to increase the share of high value-added products in our portfolio," said Andrey Teterkin, RFC CEO.

The executive also pointed out that the new factory will ensure the expansion of the Company's ability to produce high-quality products from wild white fish, including "ready to cook" category, which meets the RFC’s focus on the entire value chain for the end consumers.
