Grieg Seafood harvests 6,800 tonnes in Q3, below guidance
Grieg Seafood reported a harvest volume of approximately 6,800 tonnes gutted weight (GWT) from continued operations in the third quarter of 2025, around 1,200 tonnes below earlier guidance
The lower volume was attributed to elevated seawater temperatures during the quarter. Grieg said it prioritised long-term fish welfare and the optimisation of maximum allowed biomass (MTB), with earlier harvesting from cost-intensive sites expected to improve positioning for the fourth quarter and into 2026.

The pioneering event brought together nearly 100 people linked to the Basque fishing, scientific, and gastronomic sectors under the slogan "The Excellence of Cantabrian Bluefin Tuna," and served to highlight the quality of the product and the Basque fishing sector's commitment to sustainability and innovation. Amaia Barredo, Minister of Food, Rural Development, Agriculture, and Fisheries of the Basque Government, participated in the event. She emphasized that this initiative "aims to move toward sustainable bluefin tuna fishing, an essential step to ensure the highest quality of the final product.

The problems with squid in the waters of the Falklands (Malvinas) were gradually overcome, and the second season left the Grupo Pereira managers "satisfied." The same is happening with hake, with which they are reaching new markets thanks to the MSC seal; octopus, which "is enjoying a great moment in the US,"; and canned fish, which they operate through Portomar. But the Vigo-based fishing company, which is celebrating its 70th anniversary this year, has no plans to stop. Not by a long shot. And while in recent years investments have been especially focused on renewing the Falkland Islands fleet and operations in South Africa, they are now turning to Namibia. Pereira is setting its sights on the fishing town of Lüderitz with the acquisition of a local company.

Officials in Kochi, India, recently celebrated the commissioning of a newly constructed slipway cradle in the city, which expands its vessel-docking and maintenance capabilities.
The Union Minister of State Affairs for Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying George Kurian commissioned the facility on 8 October. Built at a cost of INR 17.8 million (USD 200,000, EUR 172,000) by government agency Fishery Survey of India (FSI), the new vessel cradle has a capacity of 250 metric tons and will be capable of supporting maintenance for research vessels and fishermen’s boat
According to a release from the FSI, the new slipway cradle is the largest government-owned vessel cradle ever established in the country.

The international certification promotes a model based on quality, innovation, and social responsibility in wild fishing
The international certification Wild & Frozen at Sea with Responsible Fishing (WFAS) has chosen the Conxemar 2025 fair to open a space for reflection on quality, sustainability, and innovation in wild fishing and on-board deep-freezing, in a conference that brought together shipowners, scientific experts, and representatives of the fishing sector.
The WFAS certification process requires independent internal and external audits, which verify everything from crew training to fish handling, stowage, labeling, and unloading protocols.
The Marine Ingredients Organization (IFFO) has released the latest production data, which estimates that in August 2025, total cumulative annual fishmeal production increased by approximately 8% compared to the same period in 2024. "This increase was driven by higher production in most regions, except for Northern Europe, which reported year-on-year declines," the organization explains.
Regarding cumulative fish oil production, up to August 2025, it showed a year-on-year increase of approximately 4%. Most countries recorded positive trends compared to the same period in the previous year, with the exception of Spain and Peru.

Ace Aquatec wins multi-camera order after trials with Tasmania salmon producer
Scotland-based fish farming supplier Ace Aquatec has secured a multi-unit order for its A-BIOMASS cage camera from Tasmanian salmon farmer Petuna.
Ace Aquatec said the camera had proved its worth in trials with Petuna, which operates in the Tamar River estuary at Rowella and in Macquarie Harbour. Both sites present challenges for any technology, from highly conditioned fish adapted to local environments to tannin-rich waters with low light levels.

At least three reports of salmon escapes have been reported in Norway during Storm Amy as it moved north, while in Scotland fish farmers were hit with power outages and damaged infrastructure.
The storm came in from the Atlantic and then swept across Ireland and much of Scotland – causing some areas to be without power for a significant period – before heading up towards Norway where it hit a number of salmon farms.
But because of their exposed location salmon farms are particularly vulnerable.

This frozen food industry city will use 37,000 square meters of the fairgrounds, placing Conxemar among the leading trade fairs in the sector worldwide.
