ProChile managed the participation of regional companies to generate new business opportunities and promotional actions for the supply of services in aquaculture and the Ecuadorian shrimp industry.

With the aim of presenting the exportable supply of solutions, goods and services for the Latin American aquaculture industry, a delegation of six companies from the Los Lagos Region participated in Aqua Expo Guayaquil 2024. A business meeting recognized as the main technical and commercial forum for the shrimp sector in Latin America, and which, thanks to the management of ProChile, allowed the participating delegation to be part of a strategic platform to promote its innovative solutions and explore new business opportunities in the Ecuadorian market.

Organized by the National Chamber of Aquaculture of Ecuador, Aqua Expo Guayaquil attracted more than 10 thousand visitors and nearly 400 exhibiting companies from around the world this year. During the four days of the event, the companies Patagonia Rov, Consultora Green Aqua, TecNovum, Tekfish, Extrual and the Aquaculture Innovation Club carried out an agenda of on-site activities, which allowed them to visit a shrimp farming company and a shrimp processing company. The tour included presentations of the cultivation, processing and packaging processes of this product.

The agenda also included networking events organized by ProChile in collaboration with PromPerú, which facilitated meetings between Chilean and Peruvian businessmen and key players in the regional aquaculture industry.

“The participation of companies from the region in Aqua Expo Guayaquil reaffirms the potential for innovation and quality of the Chilean offer in the aquaculture industry. This type of event allows companies from our country not only to present their technological solutions, but also to establish strategic alliances to open new markets. In this way, we can help to commercially integrate the aquaculture industries of Chile and Ecuador, which, although they are different, can seek mutual solutions,” said Ricardo Arriagada, regional director of ProChile Los Lagos.

Aqua Expo Guayaquil is an event that combines a trade fair and a scientific-technical congress in which topics such as nutrition and feeding practices, genetic improvement, prevention and management of diseases, market trends, efficiency and technological innovations, as well as crop diversification are addressed. This context allowed Chilean companies to share their knowledge and advance in their insertion in the Ecuadorian market.

This was acknowledged by Hector Catalán, new business agent for Patagonia Rov“We are in Ecuador for the first time sharing a stand at ProChile. It is a very interesting fair with many suppliers, producers and potential clients. We hope that we can analyze all the information we collect well in Chile and return soon to bring important solutions to this industry that requires them quickly. We believe that we can be an important contribution from Chile to shrimp production here in Ecuador.”

For his part, Zacarías Chacón, from the company TecNovum, which develops technologies for water quality, also foresees interesting opportunities: “We have spent three days connected with producers, specific suppliers for the shrimp industry. We have learned about the experience of aquaculture in this region and also the potential of our solutions in a market as attractive and important as the shrimp market here in Ecuador.”

“We have had many meetings thanks to the ProChile office here in Ecuador. They have been very productive days. We have not stopped during all these days so we have brought a lot of good news to Chile,” added Marcia Tomasoni, representative of the Aquaculture Innovation Club.

In this way, with the support of ProChile Los Lagos, Chilean companies completed an active participation in Expo Guayaquil, generating new commercial alliances and projecting future businesses for the development of aquaculture in Ecuador and Latin America, as well as providers of innovative and high-quality solutions in the international market.
