Review of Fishing Situation as of May 5th

As of 05/05/2024, the level of quota development (TAC) by users of the Kamchatka Territory and the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug (industrial, including coastal) is 52.6%. The catch of “quota” fisheries is 571,428 tons of aquatic biological resources (week +11,124 tons). Compared to 2023, the volume of production (catch) is 51,298 tons more, or 109.9% by 2023.

The development of industrial, including coastal quotas (TAC) for investment purposes by users of the Kamchatka Territory is 37.8% (catch - 28,417 tons, including crabs - 1,395 tons), compared to 2023 indicators - more by 6,022 tons.

Main fishery objects in terms of production (catch) volumes: pollock – 401,230 tons (catch share 70%); Pacific herring – 103,984 tons (18%); cod - 23,781 tons (4%), Far Eastern flounder - 15,263 tons (3%).

Positive dynamics are observed for Pacific herring - 23,157 tons more, pollock - 17,703 tons more, greenlings - 4,696 tons more, Commander squid - 4,122 tons more, navaga - 3,771 tons more.

Crab

As of 05/05/2024, the total catch of crabs (Kamchatka crab, blue crab, equal-spined crab, snow crab and opilio crab) in the Department’s area of responsibility is 9,083 tons (per week + 383 tons). Of these, 8,287 tons are within the framework of investment quotas. The total catch volume is 1,177 tons lower than in 2023 (in 2023, the catch was 10,260 tons).

  • in the West Bering Sea zone, blue crab was caught – the catch was 1,980 tons (including the catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory – 577 tons), snow crab opilio – the catch was 487 tons (including the catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory – 114 tons ) and bairdi snow crab - catch 274 tons (including catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - 82 tons);
  • in the Western Kamchatka subzone, blue crab was caught – the catch was 1,956 tons (there were no Kamchatka users), equal-spined crab – the catch was 257 tons (there were no Kamchatka users) and snow crab opilio – the catch was 72 tons (there were no Kamchatka users);
  • snow crab bairdi was caught in the Kamchatka-Kuril subzone, the catch was 2,848 tons (there are no Kamchatka users);
  • in the Karaginskaya subzone, the snow crab opilio was caught - the catch was 480 tons (including the catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - 117 tons) and the snow crab bairdi - the catch was 291 tons (including the catch by users of the Kamchatka Territory - 55 tons) ;
  • snow crab bairdi was caught in the Petropavlovsko-Komandor subzone, the catch was 439 tons (there were no Kamchatka users).
