Lawmakers Vote Overwhelmingly to End International Funding of Foreign Aquaculture Competitors

Following its decisive approval in the House, the Save Our Shrimpers Act now moves to the U.S. Senate

The U.S. House of Representatives has passed H.R. 2071, the Save Our Shrimpers (SOS) Act, by an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 391-18-1.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The legislation mandates that United States executive directors at international financial institutions (IFIs) actively oppose and vote against any financial assistance that supports shrimp farming, processing, or exports in foreign countries. Prior to reaching the House floor, the Committee on Financial Services reported the bill favorably on March 4, 2026, by a 42 to 1 vote.
